How to Create Discount Codes for Events

Discount codes are a great way to get supporters involved in your event. Why not offer an early bird discount to incentivize participants to sign up ahead of the crowd? Please see the steps below to add this feature to your next event!

1. Manage Your Campaign

Navigate to your account's Fundraising tab and click the relevant campaign's Manage button. This will bring you to the Overview tab for that particular campaign.

2. Navigate to the Advanced Tab

Click on the advanced tab, and then select “Discount Codes”. Click “New Discount Code” to create a new code.

Discount Code Name

In the Discount Code field, enter the code you want your registrants to provide at the time of checkout. Example: CLASSY10

Application Amount

Enter the amount of times a discount code can be used before it runs out, or check the Unlimited box if there will not be a limit to the number of times it can be applied.

Discount Type

Select whether you'd like to reduce the cost of the ticket/registration by a percentage or by a specific dollar amount. Your organization may also distinguish whether this discount will apply to a specific ticket/registration type, or to the entire order. Please note: tickets/registrations that cost $0 are not included in this list.

Start/End Date

You can set a start and/or end date to each discount code, or leave it open-ended. Date parameters are useful if you are going to offer an early bird discount, or a promotion for a specific period of time.

3. Manage Discount Code

When you are finished, click Create Code to complete the process. You are now ready to share your code with a target audience, or publicly through your social media channels! As ticket sales commence, your organization can track the progress of each code, and even go back to edit or disable any code. To track if a discount code was used on a purchase, go to the Transactions report, and click on the “discount code” and “discounted amount” columns to bring them into the report.

Other Tips:

1. Discount Codes can include letters, numbers and special characters.

2. They are all cAsE sEnSItiVe!

3. Only one discount code can be used per order.

4. If two or more of the same ticket type are purchased using a ticket-specific discount code, each of those tickets will have the discount applied to them.

5. If a discount code is used for a registration with fundraising event the original price of the ticket will appear on the fundraiser's fundraising page.
