Classic Peer - to - Peer Campaigns

What is Changing?

In order to keep pushing the envelope and providing our clients with the most effective tools to make them successful, we have launched a new version of our Peer-to-Peer campaigns. The time has come to say goodbye to the old version and our team has created a tool to help you upgrade your classic peer-to-peer campaigns. Check out the differences between the classic and new peer-to-peer campaigns in this support article.

How does this impact me?

The time has come to say goodbye to the old version. Our team has created a tool to help you upgrade your classic peer-to-peer campaigns. If your campaigns look similar to the one below it is on the classic (old) code base.

Your campaigns will get upgraded to include all the new functionality and features that come with our new peer to peer functionality. Most importantly you now have better control around the look and feel of your campaign, and will be able to update your campaign details inside the campaign manager. All your data will continue to live within Classy reporting, and will not be impacted. If you use an external CRM system, all data will remain the same. All individual peer-to-peer fundraisers will continue uninterrupted. These individual fundraising and team pages will upgrade along with your campaign landing page.

If this impacts me, what do I need to do?

1. Schedule your upgrade. We recommend you look at your calendar between now and February 28th to take a look at when you would like to have your campaigns upgraded. All campaigns will be automatically upgraded on February 28th. If you would like to upgrade sooner, click here and we will contact you shortly to get your campaigns upgraded.

2. Prep Your Assets. As not all images and branding will transfer between the classic and new campaign type, we recommend that you have assets on-hand to put into your new, improved peer-to-peer campaign ensure that the branding is what you want your donors to experience. Check out this guide to best prep for a successful upgrade.

3. Hold time on your calendar to update your upgraded campaign. Immediately following your scheduled upgrade, we recommend you go through your campaigns and use your prepped assets to update your campaign. Again, you can use our guide to help walk you through the process.

Charity Profile & Get Involved Page

What is Changing

You asked. We listened. We will be removing the Charity Profile and Get Involved Page from the Classy platform. These two pages have consistently received feedback that they are not as helpful for you in reaching your fundraising goals.

How does this impact me?

This will only impact you if you are actively using the Get Involved page or Charity Profile page on your website or in your communications. The vast majority of our clients are not currently using either of these URLs because a branded and customized landing page performs better than the out of the box templates.

If this impacts me, what do I need to do?

If you actively use the Charity Profile or the Get Involved page, then you can provide us with a redirect link for these pages and we will ensure that your donors or fundraisers are redirected to that URL. The same link will be used for both pages. Please complete this form by February 28th in order to have the redirect applied.

PayPal Payment Processor

What is Changing?

PayPal is deprecating the product that our clients are currently using, so if you are currently using PayPal Payments Pro as your payment processor you will need to add a new payment processor to your account.

How does this impact me?

If you are currently using PayPal as your payment processor, we have multiple payment processors that you can choose from to add to your account. You can add PayPal’s new service, Braintree, or one of our other payment providers, WePay or Authorize.net. Some payment providers are limited based on your Classy plan or settlement currency. You will need to select and add a new payment processor to your account by February 28th.

If this impacts me, what do I need to do?

1. Select the right payment processor for you. You can use this support article that talks through the different payment processors. Our support team can also walk you through the differences between payment processors.

2. Add your chosen payment processor to your Classy account by February 28th. The setup for each payment processor is also referenced in the same support article.

Classic Donations Pages

What is Changing?

Similar to our upgrade to our peer-to-peer campaigns, we launched a new, improved donation page. For example, the new donation page with the recurring module is optimized for recurring conversion. It is statistically proven to perform better than classic and original FRS at signing up recurring donors.

How does this impact me?

You can go into your account today and create a new donation page! We also created a tool to help you upgrade your existing campaigns. To easily discern if your donation page is using the classic or new codebase, take a look at the checkout page's full URL. If the format ends in "xxx/#!/donation/checkout" then the page is using our new format. If the url format ends in "/checkout/donation?eid=xxx" then it is using our classic codebase and will need to be upgraded.

If this impacts me, what do I need to do?

1. Schedule your upgrade. We recommend you look at your calendar between now and April 11th to take a look at when you would like to have your campaigns upgraded. All campaigns will be automatically upgraded on April 11th. If you would like to upgrade sooner, click here to schedule your early upgrade.

2. Hold time on your calendar to update your upgraded campaign. Immediately following your scheduled upgrade, we recommend you go through your campaigns and use your prepped assets to update your campaign. Again, you can use our guide to help walk you through the process.

Fundraise For Entry

What is changing?

Since 2010, less than 1% of all the campaigns created on platform were Fundraise for Entry events. Since 2016, Fundraise for Entry made up less than 0.5% of the total donation volume on Classy. We are seeing more and more clients using other campaign types to truly accomplish their fundraising goals and want to focus our efforts on continuing to build out and improve those campaign types. As of April 11th you will no longer be able to create a new fundraise for entry event.

How does this impact me?

This will only impact you if you are actively using the Fundraise for Entry campaign type. The vast majority of our clients are not currently using this campaign type, and are accomplishing the same end goal by using either a peer-to-peer campaign or a Registration with Fundraising campaign.

If this impacts me, what do I need to do?

If you have used the fundraise for entry campaign type in the past to require a fundraising minimum in order to participate, change your approach and set up a peer-to-peer campaign type, or registration with fundraising campaign type to accomplish the same end goal. Get creative with your engagement emails inside each of the aforementioned campaign types to encourage and remind your fundraisers of the fundraising minimum. Tap into Classy reports to filter participants based on the amount they have fundraised to date.
